🎃 Asphalt Screams Was a Hit! 🔨

We had an incredible time at Asphalt Screams this past Friday at on the Upper East Side! Our table stayed full all evening as kids of all ages and abilities explored the magic of rubber band art.

📰 We’re thrilled to be featured in Matters Magazine!

In their latest story by Amy Lynn Cramer, Maplewood resident Mike Schloff shares how he’s carving out a different kind of classroom—one plank of wood at a time. As the founder of Maplewoodshop, Mike is bringing woodworking back into schools and helping students discover the lifelong benefits of creating with their hands. 🪚✋

What started in one classroom has now grown to:
✅ 200+ schools, camps, and homeschool programs across the U.S.
✅ 20,000+ students (and even programs in Australia!)
✅ A new pre-apprenticeship pathway where high schoolers can earn up to 16 college credits through a partnership with the Carpenters Union.

Mike’s philosophy is simple and powerful:

Building Futures, One Workshop at a Time!

So proud to join the EASRCC's Edison NJ Training Center's open house earlier this month! Great seeing youth learn about opportunities in the union including Carteret HS which is using the portable Maplewoodshop version of the Carpenters' pre-apprenticeship program.

Shout out to Speaker Coughlin for stopping by and learning how we are creating purpose and pathways for youth across NJ!
