Commack High School counselor James DelGiudice received the first Commack Star Award of the 2026-27 school year Monday morning to kick off Superintendent’s Conference Day. Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox presented the honor, which marks the start of the fourth year of the award program. The Commack Star Award was created for staff members to recognize colleagues who demonstrate dependability, innovation, and inspiration in their daily work.

DelGiudice is entering his 30th year in the district and has impacted thousands of district families during his tenure. Known for his high energy and innovative ideas, he regularly mentors colleagues, volunteers for school tasks, and leads events that bring the community together while expanding post-secondary opportunities for students.
Colleagues noted that anyone who shares a conversation with DelGiudice instantly feels his unique energy. CHS rising senior and student ex-officio Cassidy Gill shared that DelGiudice consistently makes time for students whenever they need support, demonstrating a deep commitment to their success.

Dr. Cox expressed gratitude for DelGiudice’s decades of service to the district, calling it a privilege to work alongside him and present him with the recognition. Congratulations to James DelGiudice!

This past week, we hosted our new educator program, the Learning & Development Academy. New instructional staff had the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together and with district administrators and colleagues. We are excited for this fantastic group of individuals to start their careers here in Commack and we wish them the best of luck as they step into their instructional spaces next week!

Commack High School now is lined with U.S. flags alongside Townline Road and Scholar Lane.
The varsity and JV football teams, as well as community and staff members volunteered on Monday afternoon to help arrange the flags and attach them to the school’s fences.

The flags annually are displayed leading into the 9/11 remembrance ceremony spearheaded by district clerk Debbie Virga and hosted at CHS.

This year’s 25th anniversary remembrance ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, and will include a 500-drone patriotic light show, symbolizing the spirit of remembrance, resilience, and American unity. The community is invited to attend.
