Yesterday we celebrated the feast day of our patrons, Sts. Louis and Zélie Martin. We observed the feast with a beautiful community Mass at Sacred Heart parish, where Fr. DiMaria reminded us that forming families in the faith like the Martin family did takes patience, cooperation, and grace through ordinary life.
While we prayed our novena here in Philly, theology, drama, and literature teacher Miss Laura Lindmeier was on pilgrimage in Poland, where Álvaro Dávila proposed in front of the original icon of Our Lady of Częstochowa. She’s now the 6th Martin Saints faculty member to get engaged or married in the past 18 months.
Sts. Louis and Zélie are clearly hard at work with their intercessions. Congratulations, Laura and Álvaro!

This past week, our filmmaking and writing camps brought some energy back into the school building over summer break. On Friday, both camps celebrated with a showcase: a short film screening and a creative writing reading, featuring work from every student involved. Above, you can see a snippet of the “Behind the Scenes” video put together by MSC rising Junior, Lucas Gleason, along with some snapshots of our student writers sharing their work. 
A huge thank you to the leaders who made these camps possible: Bill Rose of and MSC’s own beloved Ms. Mangano.
It was such a blessing to see young people continuing to pursue their passions over the summer vacation.

Last week a small group of MSC students and parents attended one of the annual conferences at Franciscan University in Steubenville. It was a beautiful, fun, intense week of prayer and devotion. Adoration, confession, great talks. Thank you, Mrs. Pellathy and Mr. Tomko for taking us!

Our new president Mr. Alex Haynie spent his first week on the job with a Martin Saints team attending the annual meetings of the Chesterton Schools Network. This year, we’re meeting in the campus of Ave Maria University in Florida. Deacon Roberts is disappointed not to have sen an alligator. Otherwise, it’s been a beautiful week of liturgy, prayer, and practical work shops. Conference theme: “Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.”

Before the dust settles on this past school year, well-deserved congratulations to Athanasius House for their defense as reigning White Horse Cup champions! In the last few weeks of school, all Houses showed an immense amount of spirit at the annual wagon derby and field day festivities. Which House will rise to the occasion next year to claim sweet victory?

What an unforgettable year for MSC Athletics. The girls tennis team and the co-ed chess team both won runner-up trophies in their divisions, and girls doubles won a gold medal. The combined cross country and soccer team was memorable, fun, and won some games. The boys and girls basketball teams both had multiple all stars, Lucia Volpe was the Penn-Jersey Girls Basketball Red Division Player of the Year. The boys tennis team’s first season was a winning season. Spring track had its largest team ever, with most runners returning next year. Many of this year’s seniors were the founders of their teams just four years ago as freshmen - we thank our seniors for growing our sports and building our school. We are proud of every student-athlete and the gifts God has placed in them. Until next year student athletes. For all that has been - thanks! For all that shall be - yes!

Enjoy some highlights from last week’s graduation ceremony! Teachers, students, families, board members, and friends were moved with the bittersweet joy and pride of sending the incredible class of 2026 into the next chapter of their lives. We’ll leave you with some inspiring and beautiful words from this year’s class speaker, Ruth Roberts: “Martin Saints is not afraid of the present day, it is eager to participate and evangelize. And this is the amazing thing about learning chronologically: you feel inspired to join in the story. You feel the momentum of all those years, all coming down to the present day. History is alive. The story of the world continues. And a Martin Saints graduate understands not only the evils to confront but also the beauty to protect.”

Today the entire MSC community celebrates the graduating class of 2026. Their impact and investment in this school has made it a better place. From everyone at MSC, congratulations graduates, you have made us so, so proud.
