Parents are periodically presented with standardized testing data. NAEP data presents a picture of how students are performing nationally in subjects like reading and mathematics. NYS (both in grades 3-8 and Regents Exams) and AP/IB assessments give parents information about how their child and school are performing. Over the course of the next few weeks, I’d like to discuss this data. In addition to the results themselves, we will discuss the limitations of these assessment reports and the proper way to interpret them. Join our Facebook group to follow along.

Public schools raise property values. They attract higher earning and higher spending (bigger families spend more) individuals to a community which in turn benefits small businesses and the local economy. But more importantly, an excellent public school system sets children up for success. And no concept is more tightly woven into the fabric of what it means to be an American than doing our part to leave this country a better place for our children.

A $1.00 increase in per pupil state aid increases aggregate per pupil housing values by about $20.00, indicating that potential residents value education expenditure.

We are a motivated group of pro-public education parents with children who attend East Moriches Schools. We understand that our schools are the foundations of their communities and seek to advocate for the resources they need to provide the highest quality education for the children of East Moriches. Unlike the PTO and other important organizations and pages, our focus is solely on research based advocacy.
