I have an opening for a vet tech/vet asst. the time frame is 3-6 months with the potential of becoming permanent.

The candidate should be proficient in basic tech duties (cath. Placement, blood draws, anesthesia monitoring, history taking, lab work)

This person does not need to be a CVT but have a passion for the field.
Its at a 2 Dr. clinic that caters to mostly low income families. I am looking for 38-44 hrs /week. With an occasional weekends.

Scholarships and Grants for VTA/VTT students
$500 Veterinary Technology - Exotic Animal Interest Scholarship. Veterinary technicians are essential team members in every veterinary practice. Oxbow understands the need for highly-trained and qualified veterinary technicians, especially in exotic animal medicine. Oxbow Animal Health will award two Veterinary Technology students who show a strong interest in pursuing a career in small and exotic animal medicine two $500 scholarships to pursue their dreams. Scholarships are paid directly to the school in September.
NAVTA Scholarship – The National Association of Veterinary Technicians (NAVTA), in conjunction with the American Kennel Club, awards scholarships to individuals who plan to enter the field of veterinary technology. Candidates must submit copies of their transcripts and fill out the application form in its entirety. Recipients should reapply each year that they're in school in order to keep receiving financial assistance. The award amount is $1,000 and 25 individuals are given funds yearly.
AKC/Hartz Veterinary Technician Scholarship Program

The American Kennel Club and Hartz Mountain Corporation fund this scholarship, which is designed for veterinary technicians. To be eligible, you must be a current, full-time student at an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited Veterinary Technician school and be a National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) student member or a member of a NAVTA Student Chapter. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000.
Sue J. Busch Memorial Award – The Pet Care Trust, a nonprofit organization that supports proper care and nutrition for pets, sponsors the Sue J. Busch Memorial Award. The scholarship is annually given to three nominees at United States colleges and schools. Students must be in their final year of study in their degree program to be considered eligible. They must also have a specialized interest in providing services to pets of elderly and disabled people.

Laurie Page-Peck Scholarship – The Laurie Page-Peck Scholarship was established by the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians. Each year, students who are pursuing careers in veterinary technology with an emphasis on zoo care receive $1,000 toward their tuition. Qualified applicants must submit transcripts and create a scientific essay to be read at the organization's annual conference. Award recipients will have their papers published.

Each year, the Le***an and Gay Veterinary Medical Association awards one LGVMA Vet Tech Scholarship to an outstanding student enrolled full-time in an accredited vet tech program in the U.S. or Canada. Students must submit a 500-word essay on a topic or topics that can include understanding of the human-animal bond, service to their community, commitment to improving veterinary care within a community or another suggested topic on the scholarship application. An applicant’s sexual orientation is not taken into consideration in the selection process.

ABHES Christopher J. Eaton Scholarship: Nominations must be made by the Chief Executive Officer, President or Director of an ABHES-accredited institution or program. The individual nominated must:
(1) Be actively enrolled in an ABHES-accredited program at the time of the nomination and actively enrolled at the time of award or have successfully completed the program.
(2) Display a high level of integrity and perseverance.
(3) Exhibit persistence, dedication and a highly positive attitude.

Pell Grant (Title IV) up to $5775 per academic year (base on FA need)

SEOG (Title IV) up to $200 per academic year (base on FA need)

AZPSA Behavioral Health Agency (private) up to $500 per calendar year (only 2 applicants per school are selected)
