At an early age YAK had always had a passion for music. His father was a great influence in this passion, as he was a local St.Louis rapper himself. With such an influence so close so young, YAK indulged. Additional influences to include KRS 1, Rakim, MC Shan, and many other hard hitting founding fathers of this industry. At age 9 YAK met Ali of the St. Lunatics and was given the opportunity to freestyle for the him. Not 5 minutes after departure the young artist received a call from…..yup……Ali. Ali wanted to have a conversation about how they were going to make YAK a star. With his future starting to look extremely promising, the young star to be was be developed. Around this time Nelly and the St.Lunatics completely blew up. This was a bitter sweet situation as YAK was left to develop here in St.Louis on his own as Nelly and the St. Lunatics drifted away into super stardom. After opening for acts like Tech 9, Bone Thugs, Machine Gun Kelly, Twista, Casky, Sno Tha Product, and many others, after all these years the word got back to the same organization that told him he would be the next "Bow Wow" ….Derrty Ent. They had been right……Yak was a star. Working at Lou Fusz Kia as a porter washing cars YAK got a call out the blue, it was Ali. He wanted to sign YAK to Derrty Ent! During that duration of this contract YAK was flown to LA where he sat before Wendy Goldstein on Universal Republic promising that his dreams would finallly become reality. He began recording at the E.I studio immediately. For reasons of good business Yak decided to part ways with Derrty Ent (on civil terms ) and has created a catalog of hard hitting tracks, videos, and photos… as well as a team, and support system to take his brand to the next level. With his "Hazelwood to Hollywood" image….Justin Bieber meets Emimem meets St.Louis venom, creative diversity, budget, and is "YAKaholic" fan base, anything is possible for this kid.
