A Big Thank You to Officer Mitchell and the Mingo Junction Police Department!

Today, our Junior Public Safety students had the opportunity to hear from Officer Mitchell of the Mingo Junction Police Department.

Officer Mitchell spoke with the class about what it’s like to serve as a police officer, shared some of his experiences in law enforcement, and answered questions from our students. He also introduced them to the Mingo Junction Police Explorer Program and explained how the program gives young people an opportunity to learn more about law enforcement and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Opportunities like this allow our students to hear directly from professionals working in the field and learn about ways they can begin getting involved in public safety while still in high school.

A huge THANK YOU to Officer Mitchell and the Mingo Junction Police Department for taking the time to visit our classroom and invest in the next generation of public safety professionals!

Today, students in the East Liverpool High School Criminal Justice program had the opportunity to learn firsthand from Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper English.

Trooper English spoke with our juniors about career opportunities within the Highway Patrol and provided insight into the expectations, training, and professionalism required in the field. He also worked directly with students on standardized field sobriety testing (SFSTs) and walked them through the proper completion of OVI-related paperwork, including the Ohio BMV 2255 form and traffic citations.

This hands-on experience gave students a realistic look at impaired driving enforcement and reinforced the importance of accuracy, observation, and communication in law enforcement.

We appreciate Trooper English taking the time to invest in our students and help prepare the next generation of public safety professionals.

Today, East Liverpool High School Criminal Justice juniors Hadley Dobbins, Addy Buchheit, Kamryn Youngblood, and Jaymon Browning had the opportunity to team up with local dispatchers from East Liverpool Dispatch to visit Lacroft Elementary as part of National 9-1-1 Week.

During their visit, our students spoke with elementary students about the importance of 9-1-1, when it should be used, and how to stay calm and communicate clearly during an emergency.

It was great to see our juniors step into leadership roles while helping educate the next generation on public safety. We are proud of the professionalism and responsibility they demonstrated while representing our program and community.
