Today, students in the East Liverpool High School Criminal Justice program had the opportunity to learn firsthand from Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper English.

Trooper English spoke with our juniors about career opportunities within the Highway Patrol and provided insight into the expectations, training, and professionalism required in the field. He also worked directly with students on standardized field sobriety testing (SFSTs) and walked them through the proper completion of OVI-related paperwork, including the Ohio BMV 2255 form and traffic citations.

This hands-on experience gave students a realistic look at impaired driving enforcement and reinforced the importance of accuracy, observation, and communication in law enforcement.

We appreciate Trooper English taking the time to invest in our students and help prepare the next generation of public safety professionals.

Today, East Liverpool High School Criminal Justice juniors Hadley Dobbins, Addy Buchheit, Kamryn Youngblood, and Jaymon Browning had the opportunity to team up with local dispatchers from East Liverpool Dispatch to visit Lacroft Elementary as part of National 9-1-1 Week.

During their visit, our students spoke with elementary students about the importance of 9-1-1, when it should be used, and how to stay calm and communicate clearly during an emergency.

It was great to see our juniors step into leadership roles while helping educate the next generation on public safety. We are proud of the professionalism and responsibility they demonstrated while representing our program and community.

In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we are proud to congratulate the following East Liverpool High School Public Safety juniors on successfully completing their NECC Telecommunicators Certification.

These students have demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and the ability to perform under pressure—skills that are critical in emergency communications and public safety.

SkillsUSA East Liverpool Chapter wishes our Public Safety students of Jaymon Browning, Randy Douds, Aveanna Pailino, and Addison Buchheit- Good Luck as they compete today at the Mahoning County Career Center in the SkillsUSA Ohio NE Regional Competition. These competitions are created and judged by Industry Leaders to provide students with real world experiences in a competitive fun learning environment.

The top 4 placers will move onto the SkillsUSA Ohio State Competition that will take place on May 5th and 6th at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
