SENIOR WEEK ACTIVITIES

Thursday, May 20, 2021
Senior Walk: Seniors will meet upstairs in the senior pod to line up. You will come up at the beginning of 7th period. Please remember to bring your cap and gown. You may leave them in any of the senior pod classrooms. Please make sure you put your name inside your cap and gown. It is strongly recommended that you leave your tassel at home. Many have lost them during the walk, and we do not have replacements to give you for graduation.

Class trip to Cedar Point: Only students who have turned in the reservation form and have paid for the trip in full will be permitted to board the buses. Any senior who is not on the senior trip list and shows up at Cedar Point will be in violation of school board policy and will not be permitted to take part in graduation ceremonies on May 28th. No private cars can be taken to Cedar Point. Please be at the High School and on the bus at 6:15 AM. We will return by approximately 11:30 P.M. that night. Please make arrangements to be picked up by someone at that time if you are not driving.

Senior Class Banquet will board the Gateway River Belle, @ 7:00 P.M: You must be at the school at 5:00 P.M. Buses will leave at 5:15 P.M. We will return approximately at 12:30 A.M. Any senior who is not on the senior trip list and shows up at the Gateway Clipper will be in violation of school board policy and will not be permitted to take part in graduation ceremonies. No private cars can be taken to Pittsburgh.

Practice for graduation will be at 10:00 A.M. sharp in the football stadium. All seniors from BLHS and the Career Center must attend graduation practice in order to participate in graduation ceremonies. Plan on NOT leaving the school before 1:00 p.m. Make sure your employers know that you cannot be at work before 1:30 p.m. No excuses will be accepted to leave early. Graduation tickets will be given to you after practice is finished. Each student will receive 5 tickets.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS BY INVITE ONLY. The Guidance Department will notify you and you will receive directions on where and when to report.

Senior Awards Program at 6:30 P.M: Seniors should be in the elementary cafeteria at 6:00 P.M. sharp. The program will last until approximately 8:00 P.M. This year, things will be different. Attendance at the ceremony will not be mandatory as it was in the past. We will notify you whether or not you need to attend, and it will be your choice. Only students who will receive chords and awards need to attend.

Graduation Ceremony – All seniors should be at the COMPLEX WEIGHT ROOM at 6:15 P.M. sharp. No gum will be permitted. Masks must be worn. These will be given to you upon your arrival. Proper dress is required: Girls should wear a dress or a skirt/ skort and blouse with dress sandals—NO SHOES WITH HIGH SHARP HEELS. Platforms and wedges are fine. Boys should wear slacks, a dress shirt, tie and dress shoes for boys: NO JEANS, SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES, OR FLIP-FLOPS. Graduation is a formal ceremony, and formal dress is required. Ceremonies start promptly at 7:00 P.M. Graduation will be held in the stadium. If there is inclement weather, graduation will be held on Saturday, May 29th @ 7 P.M. If there is bad weather predicted for Saturday, graduation will be held on Sunday, May 30th @ 7 P.M. Times for the inclement weather date could also be changed base upon the weather report. For example, if it is to rain Saturday evening, graduation could be altered to late morning or afternoon. We will announce time change via Facebook, the school Website, Google Classroom, and an ALL CALL.

Due to Covid guidelines and requirements, guests attending graduation ceremonies will be required to sit in designated seating areas together as a group. All guests who receive a ticket from you must sit together as a group.

You are reminded that May 21st through May 28th are official school days at BLHS. Any suspension that carries through this week eliminates you from the scheduled senior class activities, including the graduation ceremony on Friday.

Let’s work together to make this a successful graduation for all concerned, especially the seniors in the Class of 2021!

SENIOR CLASS BANQUET
Gateway Clipper

The Senior Class of 2021 has planned its class banquet aboard the Gateway Princess (from the Gateway Clipper fleet in Pittsburgh) on Tuesday, May 25th, 2021. Seniors will board the River Belle at Station Square in Pittsburgh at 7:00 PM. – sailing is scheduled for 8:00 P.M. and will return by 11:00 P.M.
A Captain’s buffet will be provided with the central part of the menu consisting of Stuffed Whole Chicken Supreme and Hand Carved Baked Virginia Ham. Music will be provided by the D.J. compliments of the Gateway Clipper.

There will be no alcoholic beverages consumed just before or during the trip.
There will be no drug use of any kind just before during the trip.
There will be no abusive, destructive or irresponsible behavior on the vessel. There will be chaperones in charge of each bus.
You must ride the bus to and from Pittsburgh. No Exceptions! Remember, failure to abide by these few simple rules could result in a school suspension that would exclude you from participating in graduation ceremonies.

SENIOR CLASS CEDAR POINT TRIP

The Senior Class of 2021 has planned its class trip to Cedar Point on FRIDAY, May 21, 2021. On this date, seniors who turned their reservation forms in and paid their money will go on the trip.

We will meet at BLHS at 6:15 A.M. and leave by 6:30 A.M., arriving at Cedar Point at approximately 10:00 A.M. We will leave Cedar Point at approximately 8:00 P.M. and should be back at BLHS by approximately 10:30 P.M. Please have someone ready to pick you up at that time. We will be going on buses from McCarthur Coach and plan on making one stop going to Cedar Point for a quick snack.

Friday, May 21 is a scheduled attendance day, and students are required to attend school.
A senior trip is a school event, therefore an approved, planned absence. Students not participating in the voluntary trip are expected to attend school on that day.

The following is a list of rules that will apply on this trip and will be strictly enforced. Please be aware that any violation which results in a suspension from school will automatically exclude you from graduation ceremonies.

If you would like to purchase and sign up for a letter shirt for the senior class picture for $15 or a regular shirt with the class motto on it for $10, please turn your money in to Karlee Furman by Friday, April 2nd.
