in 1976 an American Spruce was planted at the Michigan Capitol in honor of the United States Bicentennial. The text on the back of the photograph reads: "Planting of an American Spruce on the lawn of the Michigan Capital in Lansing on May 11, 1976." Left to right are pictured: Dr. Lee James, chairman of the MSU Department of Forestry; Governor William G. Milliken of Michigan; MSU President Clifton R.
