Next year, we're celebrating 100 years of the The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University.

Recently, the School of HB officially launched its 100th anniversary celebration with a reception at Chicago’s historic Drake Hotel. The event brought together alumni, industry partners, friends, and supporters to celebrate a century of hospitality leadership and look ahead to the future of the industry.

"NASA was the last organization I expected to be doing research for; you’d think their projects would be reserved for engineers. When I started working with Dorothy Carter my freshman year, one of the first things I learned was how applicable industrial organizational psychology is to understanding how organizations work. What started as an unanticipated opportunity turned into a defining experience that shaped how I view both psychology and my future career."

Not to brag, but summer on MSU's campus is top tier.

Broad associate professor Dorothy R. Carter studies leadership and teamwork within organizations. She received funding from NASA for a collaborative project focused on understanding and mitigating communication delays between Mission Control on Earth and a crew of astronauts on a mission to Mars.

The Broad College of Business is proud to announce the launch of the Fundamentals in Insights and Analytics Graduate Certificate. This fully online program helps professionals build skills to lead with a data-driven, customer-focused perspective.

Supply Chain Management grad Alexa Ryan launched her business, BAKR Cookies, in 2023 while working full-time at Proctor & Gamble.

Even though Ryan majored in supply chain at MSU, she feels that her education at Broad prepared her for all the hats she’s had to wear as a founder and CEO — from accounting to finance to marketing. “Having those classes was extremely helpful to gain a well-rounded foundation of business knowledge. As an entrepreneur, you need to have that full range.”

Bakr is a cookie brand focused on ready-to-bake options made with simple, high-quality ingredients, and is available in the frozen section in stores like Meijer, Target, and Whole Foods.

From Spectrum Consulting Group to Les Gourmets, Broad Spartans are working with clients, launching ventures and leading projects that prepare them to make an impact in their future careers.
