County fairs are in full swing, and this was a busy week for carcass shows!! We have some awesome meat processors around the state that make these events possible. Here are some highlights from a couple of counties this week. If you ever have questions about carcass shows, like how they’re judged, or need help finding judges, message us or email Dr. Andrea Garmyn ([email protected]).

MSU Animal Science graduate student Kestlyn Willert presented her research at the ASAS-CSAS Annual Meeting in Madison, WI earlier this week. Kestlyn’s work was titled 'Effects of Supplementation with Distillers Grains or Total Mixed Ration on Performance and Carcass Quality of Grass-finished Beef.' Earlier this spring we also tested the eating quality of the meat from these cattle, and we can’t wait to share those results!! 🥩
