More than $2.5M in new funding to support Michigan animal agriculture research, outreach The Michigan Alliance for Animal Agriculture will be supporting 23 new research and outreach projects.

MSU Board of Trustees green-light dairy, greenhouse infrastructure projects Substantial renovations and additions to the Plant Sciences Greenhouses are being made as well as the construction of an updated, state-of-the-art Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center, with the state of Michigan providing $53 million for partial funding of each project.

Research highlight 🐄🔬 • Meet graduate students Maggie Miller (left) and Haylee Reisinger (right). Maggie works with Dr. Adam Lock and Haylee with Dr. Barry Bradford where both are in a MS program. Together with students from the lab of Dr. Andres Contreras, they are working on a joint trial infusing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid, into the abomasum of the dairy cow to evaluate nutrient digestibility, tissue metabolism, milk production, and immune response functions.
