Communities In Schools (CIS) of Michigan and TechSmith will host their annual Drive-Thru Backpack Giveaway on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., or while supplies last, at TechSmith headquarters, 14 Crescent Road, East Lansing.

As families prepare for the new school year, many continue to face financial challenges when purchasing essential school supplies. The free community event is designed to help ease that burden by providing backpacks filled with school supplies to students in the East Lansing area.

The giveaway is intended primarily for middle and high school students, although no student will be turned away while supplies last. Following the event, any remaining backpacks and school supplies will be distributed throughout the community to help reach additional students and
families.

Community members who would like to support the initiative may make a monetary donation to help purchase additional backpacks and school supplies through Communities In Schools of Michigan, helping ensure more students receive the resources they need for a successful start to the school year.
