Michigan State University's School of Human Resources and Labor Relations (HRLR) is pleased to welcome Dr. Ahleah Miles as an Assistant Professor
Dr. Miles joins HRLR through the College of Social Science Dean's Research Associate Program (DRAP), an initiative established in 2018 to support the recruitment and development of early-career scholars whose research and teaching advance academic excellence and contribute to Institutional Access, Opportunity, and Excellence at Michigan State University. The program provides mentorship, professional development, research support, and a pathway toward tenure-system faculty positions within the College of Social Science.
Miles studies how people navigate and develop their careers over time. Using quantitative methods, she takes an equity-focused approach to the future of work by examining how individuals interpret and respond to career feedback, how technology and structural conditions shape the psychological experience of work, and when and how social identity becomes consequential for careers.

The School of Human Resources & Labor Relations is honored to recognize student John Hao as the 2026 Outstanding Senior.
John shares that "Receiving the Outstanding Senior recognition is incredibly meaningful to me. It reflects not only my academic journey but also the support and guidance I've received along the way. I'm especially grateful to my academic advisor, Matt Hahnenberg, who gave me a lot of guidance in helping me navigate my major and academic path. This experience has shaped both my academic and professional development, and I'm thankful to the HRLR community for being such an important part of that journey."
John plans to pursue his master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
We look forward to your continued success, John, and wish you all the best!
