4-H Capitol Experience is an annual 4-day conference that focuses on civic engagement and public policy.

More than 100 teens from around the state converge on Lansing, Michigan to experience state government in action and learn how to influence policy. Attendees will:

- Understand the responsibilities of a citizen
- Explore different aspects of a policy issue that may affect individuals and communities
- Explore various careers in public policy
- Attend bill writing session
- Have an in-depth meetin

Last call to register for 4-H Capitol Experience: Youth Summit. This event is open to ALL YOUTH in 8th grade-age 19. You don't have to be a 4-H member to attend. Registration closes Sunday, Feb. 21 at midnight. Please share with youth you know today!

The 4-H Capitol Experience Youth Summit is now open for registrations. Youth in 8th grade through age 19 are invited to join with their peers to discuss topics important to them and learn how youth voices can make an impact on policy, both now and in the future. This 8-hour program spread across three days in March places an emphasis on meeting and discussing ideas with youth and elected officials from across Michigan. The $20 registration fee includes a mailed conference kit. Registration is open now until February 21. More information is available online at https://www.canr.msu.edu/4_h_capitol_experience/

Registration is open now through April 12, 2020 for the Capturing Our New Normal: A Michigan Teen Photo Project, which is being organized and led by staff from Michigan State University Extension. The project, open to all Michigan youth ages 13+, will bring together diverse teens from across the state to take photos and share their experiences with adjusting to life under the impact of the novel coronavirus. Michigan State University Distinguished Academic Staff honoree credits Michigan 4-H for igniting his successful career MSU Extension’s Brandon Schroeder was recently honored with MSU's Distinguished Academic Staff Award. However, before joining MSU Extension 15 years ago, Schroeder was already a part of the Extension community: he spent his youth as a Michigan 4-H member.
