We are overwelmed with gratitude.
Partners in education make beautiful things happen! At the Health in Our Hands Health Summit, our goal is to send every student back to school with a swag bag and smiles. Thanks to all of our generous partners, we were able to make that happen this year. On December 9th, teachers and community partners came together to fill 250 swag bags with giveaways dropped off by organizations from all over Genesee County.
Swag bag donations: Molina Healthcare of Michigan, Flint community Schools, Genesee Health System, MiSTEM Network, Genesee Intermediate School District, Motivated by Faith, Inc., Donation with Love foundation, Community Education & Outreach Section Division of Environmental Health Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Greater Flint Health Coalition, Mott Community College, McLaren Health Plan, Serenity House, Genesee County Prevention Coalition
Thank you Molina Health Plan and Mott Community College for the donation of string bags. Thank you Genesee Health System for providing refreshments to our volunteer stuffers!

Congratulations Holmes STEM Middle School Academy and The Official Site of Beecher Community School District middle school students! Two hundred scholars successfully presented research results from their community action research projects to over 50 community and education partners at the Diabetes Health Summit (Dec 12) and the Substance Use Disorder Health Summit (Dec 17) co-hosted by Mott Community College. Students discussed how genetic traits and the environment affect diabetes and how lack of resources in their community are a Social Determinant of Health. They also discussed how looking for thrills can make them miserable and explained their understanding of the difference between obsession and addiction. Great job using your science to find solutions to problems in your community!
Thank you to our judges and volunteers! Special thanks to our great science teachers who brought students who were prepared and engaged AND to Genesee Health System who provided lunch to volunteers and judges.
