Led by Vice Provost and Dean of International Studies and Programs Titus Awokuse, a delegation of leaders from Michigan State University recently visited ALT University in Almaty, Kazakhstan! πŸ‡°πŸ‡Ώβœ¨

The MSU team β€” including faculty from the College of Engineering and the College of Education, alongside directors from MSU VIPP, the Center for European and Eurasian Studies, and Asia Hub β€” got a first-hand look at ALT's incredible campus innovation spaces.

The visit concluded with a formal signing ceremony, sealing a new agreement to strengthen our partnership ties and expand collaboration in research, education and exchange between our two universities. πŸŒπŸŽ“

Bringing MSU turfgrass expertise back home to the Philippines 06/08/2026

Last month, one of Jackie "Jack" Guevara's dreams came true. She had the opportunity to share the knowledge gained at MSU about turf grass management with her home country β€” the Philippines. Jack is part of the MSU team that prepared turf for the 2026 World Cup. Read more about her path in a field she once knew nothing about.

Bringing MSU turfgrass expertise back home to the Philippines Jackie Lyn β€œJack” A. Guevara is an assistant professor in the Turfgrass Management Program at Michigan State University. Guevara was invited to give a talk at a golf course management conference in the Philippines.

Benjamin Nketsiah's internship last summer at Henry Ford Health gave him greater understanding of what inclusion in health care research looks like. He transcribed focus group discussions with Ghanaian women, hearing their perspectives surrounding the stigma of cancer. In response to what he observed, he developed a mobile health platform called She's Strong to help bridge some of the gaps in care. Read more.

Members of the MSU Delegation for Kazakhstan visited Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training Institute to discuss future collaboration and to tour the campus.

The visit followed an alumni reunion in Almaty, Kazakhstan where alumni from MSU degree programs and MSU VIPP scholar programs gathered.
