MSU science education researchers Kevin Haudek, Melanie Cooper, and Rachel Henderson have received a $700,000 National Science Foundation grant to study the role of Mathematical Sensemaking in Science (MaSS) in undergraduate STEM courses. This collaborative project will develop new assessments to elicit mathematical thinking from biology, chemistry, and physics students. Research results will deepen our understanding of the role of mathematics in undergraduate science education.

Unlocking solar-powered secrets: DOE renews grant for photosynthesis research at MSU 06/16/2023

Exciting news from our friends over at MSU-DOE Plant Research Laboratory: a renewal of a $12 million U.S. Department of Energy grant studying photosynthetic energy!

"...[these] detailed mechanistic discoveries will enable the development of new technologies that improve human lives."

Unlocking solar-powered secrets: DOE renews grant for photosynthesis research at MSU Donghee Hoh, an MSU PRL research associate, uses a MultispeQ instrument to take measurements from a cowpea plant. The DOE grant renewal will allow Hoh and other PRL scientists to continue their photosynthesis research.

Internationally renowned cancer researcher Olorunseun “Seun” Ogunwobi will join MSU as chair of MSU Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. He will also serve as the co-director of the forthcoming Center for Cancer Health Equity Research.
