MSU International Relations Organization (MSUIRO)

MSU IRO is collaborating with State After Dark to present a Capture the Flag event on Thursday, November 6th, at 8pm! The event will kickoff at Wells Hall, room 120A, with the event taking place outdoors so dress appropriately! This event is open to all students, not just those involved in MUN, so come by and have a fun time! Can’t wait to see you all come out!

Our recent general meetings have been a great time to get to know our new members and see you all engage with our activities and events! If you missed the last few meetings, you are welcome to come at anytime! We have a Crisis Workshop at 8pm in Erickson 222 tonight, and a General Membership meeting at 9pm in the Erickson Kiva! Come by and have fun learning about MUN :)

We have a great lineup for events this week with our sister organization ! Tomorrow is our joint picnic at Adams Field from noon to 4 with free pizza. Bring your own blanket or something to sit on! Then, on Saturday, we are having a joint tailgate with MSUMUN. Details about our exact location will be posted the day of, it will also start at noon and end at 4. Last but not least on Sunday we will have our Beginner Simulation! New members will be paired with returners to get some hands on practice with general assembly debate. Sign up is linked in our GroupMe!

We have our second meeting tonight at 9pm in the Erickson Kiva! This will also be our first MUN Workshop at 8pm in Erickson 222 to learn about parliamentary procedure. Come by for important information!

We miss you all after not having a meeting this week, so tomorrow we are hosting our MUN Bootcamp! This is an open event to any interested parties or current members to learn about collegiate Model UN in a guided presentation by our great Conference Preparation team. This will be in Case Hall, room 340, from 6-8pm! But that’s not all things MUN happening in Case Hall. In Club Spartan, MSUMUN will be hosting their committee fair to learn about opportunities to staff their super fun conference! Stop by both events to get a MUN education!

We had our first meeting of the year last night in the Erickson Kiva with MSUMUN and would like to thank everyone who showed up! You all were so engaged and we look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting. We won’t be having one next Monday, as it is Labor Day, but we will be having one the following week on September 8th at 9pm in the Erickson Kiva! We can’t wait to see you all again. Have a great first week of classes!

MSU IRO has come back for spring semester in full swing! Before we even attended McMUN, we hosted fun general membership meetings, our first Dungeons & Dragons one-shot adventure, and a joint party with MSUMUN! The theme for the party was “What did you want to be when you grew up?”, as chosen by our members, and we had a lot of fun seeing what people came as and what they wanted to be. We’re looking forward to the year ahead and can’t wait to have even more fun with MSU IRO!

Thank you to McMUN and all our members for creating a great time in Montreal this year! We are so proud of Hiyori Eldred for receiving a verbal commendation, so we’d like to congratulate him! As always, we hosted our usual McFUN competition between our freshmen & juniors versus our sophomores & seniors, and our sophomores & seniors won! We’re glad everyone had fun and cannot wait to attend again next year.
