Congratulations to ID Assistant Professor, Dr. Jisun Lee on winning the 2026 MSU IT AT&T Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award!

Dr. Lee received this honor in recognition of her varied use of technologies in the classroom. The selection committee particularly appreciated Dr. Lee's well-designed and immersive Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality learning experiences.

Dr. Lee's dedication and innovative approach to advancing her field, and of course to the success of her students, is what makes SPDC the home of Spartans, Built to Lead!

Not one, but five college awards and recognitions were brought to SPDC by our faculty and students, reflecting the excellence, leadership, and impact of SPDC across teaching, research, service, and culture, access, and belonging.

Congratulations to Prof. Laura Winter, on receiving the CANR Excellence in Teaching – Established Teacher Award.

The CANR Excellence in Teaching – Established Teacher Award recognizes individuals with five or more years of teaching experience who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to high-quality teaching and meaningful contributions to student learning.

Winter is a teaching specialist in interior design whose instructional approach emphasizes creativity, critical thinking and experiential learning.

On April 17th, third-year Interior Design students in IDES 451: Interior Design Professional Practice visited Steelcase for an immersive and inspiring learning experience.

Students toured the facility and testing lab, tried out numerous furniture pieces, and explored a wide variety of finishes—engaging with design hands-on and in real time. Just as impactful was the opportunity to network with many professionals across the company, learning about their diverse career paths and gaining invaluable advice as students prepare for their own professional journeys.

The day clearly demonstrated how Steelcase uses research to drive thoughtful, evidence-based design solutions, while also offering students meaningful insight into the many roles and opportunities within the design industry.

At the 4th annual SPDC Awards Ceremony on April 9th, 2026, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources' Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Dr. Antomia Farrell, joined us to give a special address to our students and supporters!

The event is a special way to celebrate SPDC's student scholarship recipients, as well as honor those generous donors whose contributions significantly enhance their education and enrichment.

Second year ID students completed a micro design project as an introduction to 3D modeling and 3D print prototyping.
