Our research team, along with former Lingo Lab postdoc Janine MathƩe-Scott, has just published an article in Frontiers in Psychology!
The article, "A novel method for examining autistic childrenās comprehension of individual words produced within delayed echolalia: A proof-of-concept pilot study," describes a study which utilized Looking-While-Listening procedures to examine whether two autistic children comprehended individual words within their own delayed echoes - and they did!

We had two amazing posters at the 2025 University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum!
Audrey, Ashlyn, and Alicia's poster was "Reading into Neurodiversity: Autism Terminology in Children's Books"
Duaa, Himani, and Kate's poster was "Impacts of Authorsā Relationships to Autism on Characterization of Peer Interactions in Childrenās Books About Autism"
We couldn't be more proud of both groups and their effort in not only putting these posters together but also the research they undertook this semester that was necessary to make this happen. Way to go to both groups and way to represent the Lingo Lab š

We had a blast at the MSU Science Festival last weekend! It was an excellent experience highlighting all the different ways we can communicate. It's one of our favorite events on campus, and we look forward to returning next year šš

The Lingo Lab had an amazing time at the 2025 Michigan Speech-Language Hearing Association Conference!
Lab director Dr. Courtney Venker, Speech-Language Pathologist Jennifer Johnson, and Research Coordinator Zachary Hesse gave their talk, "Gestalt Language Development, Evidence-Based Practice, and Neurodiversity".
We also had 2nd-year master's student Margot Stern present her poster, "Autistic Adolescentsā Views on Autism in Childrenās Books". Way to go Margot!
MSHA is one of our favorite conferences; we can't wait to attend it again!

A couple weeks ago we were so delighted to attending for the first time! It was such an insightful and inspirational experience. We're thankful to all the presenters and attendees who shared their experiences with us and to those we were able to connect with. We can't wait for next year!
