Students and faculty are working together to address some of today's most pressing housing challenges.
Assistant Professor Donovan McCarty is leading the MSU Law Housing Justice Clinic's efforts to drive systemic change for Michigan residents facing housing injustice. At the same time, undergraduate researcher Marcos Garcia is earning national recognition for his work studying homelessness and housing policy, recently receiving the prestigious Beinecke Scholarship.
As a research assistant to McCarty, Garcia has helped analyze housing laws and is co-designing an artificial intelligence chatbot that will provide accurate legal guidance to tenants at risk of eviction.
