Each year, thousands of students at Michigan State University are transformed by their educational experiences outside of the United States and can be found in classrooms, research labs, field stations, and internship sites throughout the world. In addition, we welcome a growing number of international students for a non-degree study experience at our East Lansing campus through the American Semester Program. OUR VISION

The MSU Passport Scholarship is now OPEN for applications. If you’re looking to get your first passport, a current MSU student, eligible for a Pell Grant and at least 18 years old, you’re eligible to apply!

Having a passport not only provides the opportunity to study abroad, but also affords personal and professional benefits.

Applications will be accepted until October 15, 2026.

Living in a non-English speaking country forced me to become more effective in communication, even in unfamiliar situations. It also taught me that studying abroad is not simply a vacation. It is a learning experience which challenges you academically, culturally, and personally."
