Gender lecture shakes UFS as Achebe questions Africa’s “unfinished freedom” QWAQWA – A powerful silence gripped the University of the Free State’s Qwaqwa Campus on Wednesday as renowned historian Professor Nwando Achebe delivered a hard-hitting Africa Day Memorial Lecture that challenged Africans to confront what she called the continent’s “unfinished freedom.”

Michigan State University along with Candace Keller, Associate Professor of African Art and Visual Culture in the Department of Art | Art History | Design, partnered with Ghana's Mmofra Foundation to preserve the Willis Bell Photographic Archive. This archive is one of the most complete visual records of post-independence Ghana. More than 40,000 photographs documenting Ghana's first decades after independence have been restored, digitized, and returned to public view.
