Members! Mark your calendars for our first membership dinner meeting after the summer break. Looking forward to learning about the history of the Fire Island Lighthouse and buying Angela’s book for $20 cash…she will personalize it for you, makes a great gift or memory. Our squadron receives a portion as a donation, so thank you Angela for taking time out of your busy schedule and supporting our endeavors. Monday, September 14th, 7pm at the Hibernian Hall in East Islip.

As Fall approaches, we encourage you to beef up your boating skills. A two hour seminar on Navigation will make you a more confident boater. And the NYS certification class is mandatory now…you can take the class and walk out with your certificate in hand…assuming you pass, of course. But our excellent instructors will get you there! We enjoyed a VIP tour of the oyster farm owned and operated by Captain Lou Delli-Pizzi of the Red Tiger Seafood Co. Located in the beautiful Great South Bay, Captain Lou’s business contributes to the environment in a big way, as oysters are a natural ecosystem for keeping the waters clean. We handled some equipment, did some shucking and enjoyed fresh oysters right out of the water. We encourage you to learn more about this thriving industry.

A heads-up for members, get your calendars out and plan to be there for our upcoming events. Guest Speaker joining us in September and our annual Fall Picnic is now accessible to boaters and non boaters alike. Easy to park at the Sunset Harbor Marina in Patchogue. Our Saturday night dinner at the Tiki Bar will be a lush buffet, reserve your spot asap. Join your friends for an end of summer weekend under the gazebo.
