Nikoll is outstanding! We are so proud of her!
Nikoll grew up in Bogota, Colombia with her family. She attended university there, earning a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. “Education was always an important part of my life, and I was passionate about helping children learn and grow.”
Nikoll, along with her mother and sister, made the difficult decision to move to the United States in search of better opportunities. She soon learned she could no longer work in the education field here as her accreditations did not transfer. The three of them found work as live-in housecleaners for a Spanish-speaking family. They were grateful for jobs, but had very little time to learn or practice English.
Everything began to change for Nikoll when she and her family moved to Connecticut. Determined to improve her future, she enrolled in English classes at East Hartford Adult Education. It was there that she learned about LVGH. “The program immediately caught my attention because I have a one-year-old daughter, and it provided both English classes for me and childcare for her at the same time. This opportunity was incredibly important because I wanted to improve my English skills, but I also wanted to ensure my daughter was well cared for while I studied.”
Nikoll’s literacy skills are getting stronger every day. In addition to her English classes, she has successfully completed two different certification courses. “From the educational materials provided to the instruction and constant support, everything about LVGH’s programs reflect a sincere desire to help people succeed. They go above and beyond to create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.”
Now, Nikoll says her next goal is: “to continue learning, growing, and building a better future for myself and my daughter.”
