ALUMNI UPDATE | GBSA alum Anthony Purcell has been keeping busy since tearing it up on Greenwich Bay. After coaching the 420 race team in 2021 he spent the summer of ‘22 as a boat captain in Newport. He ran a charter boat in the IC37 fleet and took on a fleet maintenance role for at Sail Newport. He’s just been newly elected offshore coordinator for the URI sailing team and is throughly enjoying the sailing opportunities that come his way.

Let’s go Avengers! Wish them luck as they work to finish an incredible season!

Another great weekend in the books for The team traveled up to Portland Maine to sail at one of the O’Day qualifying sites and finished 3rd out of 13 on Saturday to punch their ticket to the O’Day Championship Round down in Quincy, MA on Sunday. On Sunday the team battled it out with the top 18 teams in New England and finished with an impressive 11th place. Just because the season is coming to an end does not mean it is dwindling down. This team has a tough week of practice ahead of them to prep for the National Invitational Tournament (Founders Trophy) this weekend while at the same time also getting reps in for our JV team to go represent us this weekend in Bristol for the RI State Championship!

ALUMNI UPDATE | EGYC junior member and GBSA alum Elizabeth Amelotte has had a busy junior year, both on and off the water. Elizabeth has just been elected University of Vermont Sailing Team President, and is now preparing for ICSA Women’s Fleet Race Nationals for the 2nd consecutive year. Wish her luck!
