Students in Mrs. Clark’s ELA class were “as busy as bees” learning about similes!

Students explored different objects, described their characteristics, and then worked together to create similes using their observations.

4th grade students used Oreos to model the different phases of the moon and understand how the moon appears to change as it orbits Earth.

We love seeing our Falcons learning, creating, and making connections!

We already had a Hat Day planned for today, but this week we learned that WLHS lost a beloved staff member after her courageous battle with cancer.

When we heard that their school was holding a Hat Day today to help support her children and family, we knew we wanted to join them. All money collected from our Hat Day will be donated to her family.

Students in Mrs. Clark’s 3rd grade class created their own “globes” using balloons and rubber bands to identify the Equator and Prime Meridian. They then added and labeled lines of latitude and longitude to strengthen their understanding of how we locate places around the world.

Hands-on learning makes those big geography concepts stick!

Mrs. Shuman and Mrs. Hobbs’ 5th grade Science classes are learning about how water can change the Earth’s surface… so they made their own caves!

Mrs. Janufka and Mrs. Green’s 5th graders got hands-on in science today!🌎

Students used playdoh to represent a thick, outer layer of rock, sugar cubes to represent limestone, water to represent rainfall, and an elevated tray to represent gravity. As students poured the water, they were able to model how weathering breaks materials down and how moving water and gravity work together to cause erosion.

A sweet way to make a big science concept stick!

We are proud to announce Ms. Kamorra Crafton as the East Laurens Elementary 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year!

She leads with kindness, consistency, and a genuine heart for her students. She is truly a master of her craft—thoughtful in her approach, confident in her practice, and always focused on doing what is best for children. She does it well each and every day!

Her impact is powerful and reaches beyond the walls of her classroom. She represents the very best of East Laurens Elementary, and we are so proud to celebrate her as our Teacher of the Year! 🖤💛
