📚 Education in Action at HITS Ocala

HITS Horse Shows and HITS University (HITS U) are pleased to host a USHJA Hunter/Equitation Judging Clinic on Tuesday, March 17 at 1:00 PM at HITS Ocala. Auditors are welcome!

Continuing education and opportunities to learn are an important part of keeping our sport strong, and we’re happy to provide a venue for programs like this that help develop the next generation of licensed officials. A highlight of the clinic will be a practical judging session, where participants will evaluate live rounds from horses and riders in the ring.

We’re proud to support the USHJA and educational initiatives that benefit the entire horse show community. Come join us and see the action!

HITS University (HITS U) is proud to host the USEA Young Event Horse Masterclass on February 16 from 3:30pm to 7:00pm at HITS Ocala. At HITS, we believe that all horsemanship transcends disciplines; strong fundamentals and training of young horses matter in every ring.

Join moderators Peter Grey and Lesley Grant-Law and riders Olivia Dutton, Phillip Dutton, Leslie Law, and Jon Holling for a discussion that will benefit the development of young horses across all disciplines.

At HITS University, we’re proud to support the next generation of top officials. This season, we welcomed numerous “r” judges across our venues, giving them valuable opportunities and hours in the judging booth as they work toward their “R” license. It’s all part of our commitment to growing the sport through education, opportunity, and mentorship👩‍🎓

Michele Goodrich comments on judging at HITS Vermont and HITS Hudson Valley this summer:
“My experience with HITS University has been wonderful. I have been working on my “R” license for a few years. Getting the "the big show" experience with my “r” has been a challenge. Judging the extra large hacks and flat classes [at HITS] were great practice but also terrific to see so much activity in the show rings. I was able to carve out time to come to two of the shows I judged over the weekend a day early so I could get more time apprenticing with seasoned R judges. This was such a fantastic opportunity for me. The wealth of knowledge and education these judges offer is a blessing… I am thankful that HITS University has embraced this program for small r's. Great idea and thank you!”

🎓 On your way to becoming a licensed judge, steward, or course designer?

HITS U is here to help! The program hosts USHJA judging clinics, helps facilitate learner judging and apprenticeships for USEF applicants, and seeks to provide judging opportunities for selected applicants. We also offer an annual grant to help support individuals in their pursuit of licensing.

Our sport is a community of exhibitors, trainers, families, sponsors, barn staff, and horse show staff. High quality, qualified licensed officials are the backbone of each day of competition. HITS U seeks to help build a pipeline of qualified, expert licensed officials.
