Pope Leo XIV’s prayer intention for the month of June is for the value of sports.
“In times of war and extreme polarization, sport is one of the few things that bring us closer together,” the pope said in a video released on X on June 2.
He added: “Let us pray this June that sport may be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that it may promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.”

A heartfelt thank you to the Northwest Indiana CYO for providing our students with the opportunity to participate in athletics and grow through teamwork, sportsmanship, faith, and competition.
We are especially grateful to the many Athletic Directors who dedicate countless hours behind the scenes organizing schedules, coordinating teams, communicating with families, and ensuring our student-athletes have a positive experience. Your commitment, leadership, and service do not go unnoticed.
A special thank you also goes to our parents and families. From transportation and volunteering to cheering from the sidelines and supporting your children every step of the way, your dedication makes these opportunities possible. Your encouragement helps our student-athletes grow both on and off the court and field.
Thank you for all you do to support our students and help make youth sports possible throughout our CYO community. We are blessed to be part of such a dedicated and caring organization.
