Today, we kicked off our EC GOLD campaign with all our students!

EC GOLD represents the qualities we expect from every East Canton Middle School student:

🟡 E — Engaged
🟡 C — Considerate
🟡 G — Genuine
🟡 O — On-Task
🟡 L — Leader
🟡 D — Dedicated

During today’s EC GOLD Assembly, students had the opportunity to review these important expectations in a fun and memorable way. Our teachers brought the energy with some hilarious skits, while students participated in friendly competitions and team-building activities that encouraged teamwork, school spirit, and positive choices.

EC GOLD is about more than expectations—it’s about building a school community where students challenge themselves to be their best and encourage those around them to do the same.

A huge thank you to our ECMS staff for their hard work and dedication in making today’s assembly such a tremendous success.

We are so incredibly proud of our students and the way they embraced the spirit of EC GOLD today.

A special thank you to Mrs. Newbauer, Mrs. Blake, and Miss Custer for their leadership, creativity, and commitment to making today’s assembly so engaging and meaningful.

Current 6th & 7th Grade Families,

I wanted to provide an update regarding next year’s student trip to Philadelphia and Hershey, PA. I am excited to share that we have officially reached 80 students enrolled for the trip! As a result, all students who have submitted their first deposit have secured a spot and will be attending.

We will be taking two buses and there are still spots available (up 96 total) for any students who may still be interested and have not yet submitted their first deposit.

A special thank you to Mr. Linerode for his time, effort, and dedication in planning this opportunity and advocating for our students. We truly appreciate all of his work in making this experience possible.

Have a wonderful summer!

We had the privilege of celebrating the incredible Class of 2030. This group of students has demonstrated growth, resilience, leadership, and school pride throughout their middle school journey. We are so proud of all they have accomplished.

We wish them continued success as they begin the next chapter in high school.

A special thank you to all of the families and friends who were able to join us for this memorable celebration and to our incredible staff members who went above and beyond to make the morning so meaningful and special for our students.

6th & 7th Grade Families,

This message is regarding next year’s Philadelphia/Hershey, PA student trip.

As previously communicated, due to increased transportation costs, we were originally informed that we would only be able to take 48 students on the trip, which is the capacity of one bus. In an effort to be fair to all interested students, we shared that a “lottery” system would need to be used if more than 48 students signed up for the trip.

Today (May 22nd), we had an incredible 74 students make their first deposit, indicating their interest in attending the trip. Mr. Linerode and I immediately reached out to Traveling Classroom — the organization we partner with to coordinate the trip and transportation — to share the tremendous student interest and discuss possible options.

Our priority has always been to do everything possible to allow every student who wants to attend the opportunity to go on this memorable experience. After further discussion and collaboration with Traveling Classroom, we are excited to share that we will be able to take two buses at the current cost of $525 per student if we reach a minimum of 80 students. Two buses would allow us to take up to 96 students total.

We truly appreciate Traveling Classroom’s partnership and willingness to work with us to make this opportunity possible for more of our students. We are also incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm and support shown by our students and families.

I will continue to keep families updated on our total numbers moving forward. If we do not reach 80 students, we would unfortunately still need to proceed with the lottery process using the 74 students who submitted their deposit today. However, if we reach between 80–96 students, all interested students will be able to attend the trip. If your child would like to attend the trip and a deposit has not been made – we encourage that the first deposit is made on Tuesday, May 26th.

Thank you again for your continued support and excitement surrounding this wonderful opportunity for our students.

Thank you,
