From clay to keepsakes🌲 student -artists created ceramic trees and ornaments during last weekend’s Winter Workshop - filling the studio with creativity, laughter, and a little bit of magic got fired in the kiln ✨

Looking for something creative to do on the weekend?? Join me for some clay making fun! Class could be geared to all kids (parents drop them off and head out to dinner) or we could make it a parent/child class or shake it up and leave the kids at home and call your best gal pal and let’s make it an adults only class! Paper mache might be my all time favorite medium to use with elementary aged artists. They LOVE the gooeyness of it. This week we learned about relief sculptures- a sculpture that is 3D but mostly 2D and boy did they blow me away with their creativity! Student Artists left with frame worthy masterpieces of waves, mushrooms, bananas, igloos, mountains, mermaids, rainbows, puppies, and birds in flight! 🌈⛰️🍌🌊🍄🧜🏼‍♀️

Elementary aged children don’t have much agency over decision-making in their lives so I always tell them they are the boss of their artwork. I might choose the medium for the art project, in this case- plaster sculptures - so we ended up with an art studio full of milkshakes, ice pops, ice cream cones, plate of meatballs, chocolate bars, donuts, a lollipop and an avocado 🥑🍪🍩🍫🍭

Last week’s impromptu gelli printing workshop was just what we all needed to fill our creativity cups. It was great to see my students over the Summer spending the morning creating, giggling and talking texture, printmaking, collaging and all things we love about art and creating together. I’m so glad parents reached out🥰🎨💕

We played so many art themed games during camp last week. Games are so much fun that kids don’t even realize they’re improving their drawing skills, building relationships and healthy competition, respecting rules and working together in teams which fostered a great sense of community. We were all sad when the week came to an end.

Art+Hot Cocoa+Community+a Dog=Anxiety Free Fun! Last Saturday, artists glazed their ceramic mugs and today we drank hot cocoa from them and then drew them. Leo stayed with us and loved up all the pets and snuggles he received. Was such a fun mini Winter Workshop🎨☕️🐕‍🦺
