Join Smart Start of Yadkin County on September 25th for Give Like Dolly Day as we come together to celebrate something simple but powerful—putting books into the hands of children in our community.

Stop by the Smart Start of Yadkin County anytime between 9am and 5pm to learn about their programs and to raise awareness for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library! They will have coffee, apple c***r, hot chocolate, and decorations in honor of Dolly, as well as crafts for the children!

Thankful for the coolest job ever! There are so many sitting in the Forbush Ag classes that would make fantastic future Ag teachers! 💙💛💙💛

There’s something pretty special about the impact of an ag teacher. They teach kids how to step up and lead, how to work hard even when nobody is watching, how to shake a hand and look someone in the eye, how to speak in front of a room full of people, and how to take pride in something they worked for and earned.

They’re there for the early mornings and late nights, livestock checks, contest practices, record books, SAE projects, chapter meetings, county fairs and long bus rides home. They haul kids all over creation, answer texts at hours nobody should be awake, keep safety pins, snacks and probably half a hardware store somewhere in the ag building, and somehow always seem to be there when one of their kids needs them.

And somewhere in between learning to weld, judge livestock, identify plants, run a meeting, give reasons, raise an animal or step up to a microphone, those kids are learning a whole lot about life too. They’re learning responsibility, confidence, leadership, work ethic and how to keep going when things don’t turn out the way they hoped. That’s what makes ag education so special. It has never just been about learning agriculture. For so many kids, that ag room becomes their place, their people and a huge part of the person they grow up to be.

So on National Teach Ag Day, here’s to the ag teachers who give way more than could ever fit into a job description. The ones who believe in their kids, push them when they know they’re capable of more, celebrate the wins and stick around through the hard days too. The blue jacket may eventually get hung in the closet, but what an ag teacher puts into a kid goes with them for the rest of their life. Happy National Teach Ag Day to some of the very best.
