Easley Parks & Recreation is excited to offer our Kids Art Classes in the Park this June at Pope Field Park Shelter 3! Each Monday will feature a different fun and colorful art project for kids ages 5 & up.

Mondays in June
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
$5 per class
Pope Field Park – Shelter 3

Projects include:

🎨 Paper Collage
🌸 Giant Flowers

“Wave” hello to SUN Meals To-Go! 🌊🍍

Families can pick up a 7‑day shelf‑stable + fresh produce meal kit every Thursday starting June 4. 🍓 This program is open to all children 18 and under, no School District of Pickens County enrollment required!

Choose the pickup site that works best for you, including Dacusville Elementary School, Crosswell Elementary School, Ambler Elementary School, Six Mile Elementary School, Arial Baptist Church, ALIVE Wesleyan Church, Dacusville Community Center, Golden Creek Baptist Church, and Hagood Mill Historic Site.

This form also allows you to give permission for another adult to pick up meals for your child.

“Good afternoon. I wanted to send out one last reminder about the Summer Enrichment Camp at LAB. Let’s work together to end the ‘summer slide’! This is a FREE camp that runs June 1–12 from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM and focuses on ELA and Math enrichment.

The camp is open to new and returning LAB students who are rising 4th–8th graders. There are still a few spots available! If you would like to sign your student up for this free, fun, and enriching camp, please reach out as soon as possible so they can be added to the roster. We are looking forward to another great Enrichment Camp!” 💚

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸❤️

Memorial Day is more than cookouts, long weekends, and the start of summer. It’s a day to reflect on the courage, selflessness, and sacrifice of those who gave everything so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today.

As we spend time with our families, may we also take a moment to teach our children the importance of gratitude, service, and remembering the heroes who never made it home. ❤️🤍💙

🧠 Tidbit Tuesday: Building Independence This Summer

Summer is a great time to build executive functioning skills in a low-pressure way.

Start small:
✔ let your child pack their own bag for outings
✔ create simple daily routines (morning, bedtime)
✔ use checklists instead of constant reminders

The goal isn’t perfection, it’s practice.

These everyday moments help build confidence, independence, and real-life skills 💚

📚✨ The LABCS PTA Board had so much fun surprising our amazing teachers & faculty with a little end-of-year gift… a “Blind Date with a Book!” ✨📚

Each staff member received a wrapped mystery book to unwrap and enjoy over summer break, and y’all… seeing the excitement and reactions today was THE BEST! 🥹💚

A HUGE shoutout to The Calico Corner for helping make these so special for our staff! We are so thankful for your creativity and support! ✨

You don’t need hours of worksheets to keep skills strong over the summer.

Consistency matters more than intensity.

Try:
✔ 10–15 minutes of reading most days
✔ real-life learning (recipes, directions, shopping lists)
✔ audiobooks paired with print

Small, consistent practice helps maintain progress without turning summer into school !💚
