Two weeks after the Bureau of Alcohol, Fi****ms, To***co, and Explosives sent out a press release touting its proposed rule to dramatically expand the definition of what constitutes a firearm under federal law, the proposal has officially been published in the Federal Register. That means the 90 day public comment period is now open, and gun owners (along with their anti-gun counterparts) can weigh in on the proposed changes until August 19th.

The proposal would impose broad and vague definitions for fi****ms and firearm parts, instead of offering clarity to manufacturers and gun owners.

Any business that prohibits legal carrying of a firearm should be held both criminally and financially liable for any acts of violence that happens on their property… If they want to take away someones right to defend themselves they should have to guarantee their safety throughout the day and night even on their way to and from that property.

Idaho expands its “Second Amendment Sanctuary” law. The bill was opposed by Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action.

The Idaho House earlier this week passed SB 1205 and sent it to Governor Brad Little after the measure had previously cleared the Senate. SB 1205 is a bill sponsored by Sen. For over a month now, the Court had been considering whether or not to accept a challenge to New York’s concealed carry licensing laws, but in the meantime SCOTUS has turned away several other cases dealing with the right to keep and bear arms. Many gun owners had been growing increasingly frustrated with what they see as the Court’s reluctance to address the issue, even with what’s supposed to be a solid majority in favor of protecting the right to both keep and bear arms.

The case could upend "may-issue" concealed carry licensing laws from New York to California.
