One last hurrah! Our 8th graders are back from their class trip to Ashland, Oregon, and it was the perfect way to wrap up their time in the grades. Whether they were navigating the rapids of the Rogue River, exploring Ashland, or taking in plays (and going behind-the-scenes) at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, it was a meaningful final milestone for our students as they prepare for the transition to high school. We are so proud of the lifelong connections they’ve built and the way they’ve supported each other throughout this entire journey. Next up, Grade 8 Promotion!

As part of their year-long cooking and practical arts curriculum, Ms. Martinelli’s Grade 3 class has turned the classroom into a bustling kitchen, this week making delicious, handmade empanadas! In Waldorf schools around the world, cooking isn’t just about the tasty reward at the end — it’s a deeply immersive, hands-on experience that begins in Early Childhood and continues through High School where students practice math, build culinary and fine motor skills, and connect with global cultural traditions. Check out our young chefs in action!

Grade 6 is back from an immersive and memorable journey to Death Valley. This experience brought together their studies in geology, astronomy, and geography with the lived reality of the natural world. Facing a record heat wave, students didn’t just observe the desert; they responded to it with care, awareness, and responsibility. They discovered their own resilience and capacity to meet challenges, learning the importance of pacing and listening to their own bodies. From sunrise on the Mesquite Sand Dunes to wading in Lake Manly at Badwater Basin to the quiet brilliance of the Milky Way, this journey was an echo of their studies made vividly real. We are so grateful to the chaperones and families whose effort made this journey possible. It is an experience that will live on in the class’s memory for years to come.

PWS in the news! It was a pleasure to welcome CBS LA to our campuses to talk about the resilience of our school community and our return to Altadena.

There is a unique magic that occurs when students have specialized equipment and a dedicated facility at their disposal. Our G9 and G10 classes immersed themselves in the world of Organic Chemistry, conducting complex experiments and collecting data with professional precision. At PWS, our high school science curriculum is designed to explore both the theoretical and tangible worlds in tandem. By working in a dedicated lab environment, our students transform from learners into investigators, capturing the essence of scientific discovery.

We can’t wait to see this energy thrive in our permanent lab home when we return to our Altadena campus this fall ‘27!

Many have asked us if the donor bricks that were in front of the Wishing Well at our Mariposa St.campus survived the fire. The answer is yes, and they were saved and brought to our Mendocino St. campus just a few blocks away.

As we approach our spring event “Coming Home” on April 25 in Altadena, we are offering our community an opportunity to dedicate special Cornerstone Bricks saved from Scripps Hall.

Once inscribed, they will join the original donor bricks and be incorporated into the Mariposa campus rebuild.

For now, the original donor bricks are safe and on display at our McComb campus.
