SOAR MS had two teams participate in WEMTAs Battle of the Books. The team in the elementary division,grades 4-6, placed 4th. The team in the MS division, grades 6-8, placed 29th.
In September I asked SOAR MS if anyone was interested in giving Battle of the Books a try. 4 amazing students said yes! They started reading their lists at the end of September and took the final test the last week of February! The test involved 35 questions that required them to match the title and author to the question. Northland Pines School District

Day 2 of the conference and we got to meet two more fabulous authors. Look for their signed books in your library!

Ms. Davis and Mrs S. are at the WEMTA conference and got to meet Jerry Craft. He signed books for each of the schools. Make sure you stop by one of the libraries to check them out.

Today Pines Grad and author Jason Franz came to talk to the 5th and 6th graders at Eagle River Elementary. He shared about his book Sixth Grade Secret service, his writing process, and the ups and downs of writing a book. The students were able to preorder signed copies of the books and they asked excellent questions.

Land O Lakes students listen to the story Our Table by Peter Reynolds and then used legos to build their own tables. They were very creative in their designs! Northland Pines School District

The Star Books Cafe opened for the 6th graders at ERES today. Students sipped on 3 books, reviewed their choices, had dessert and checked out books. One class even had some special guest stop in to partake in the fun!
Two highlights from the day were when two boys told me at the end of the day how much fun they had and how they found a new book to read. The second was a girl being her friend in to get her to check out two books she missed during her visit. 📚Northland Pines School District

It’s that fabulous time of year for the BOOK FAIR!!!
The book fair at ERES and LOL/SOAR MS will run Wednesday Nov. 6 - Nov. 13

Both fairs will be open during Parent Teacher Conferences.

The Astronomy Class came to the library for Starry Book Cafe and sampled different fiction and non-fiction books on astronomy! After completing their reflection napkin they could have a star cookie for dessert. Northland Pines School District
