In recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Eagle Rock Elementary third graders are exploring the history, cultures, and traditions of Indigenous peoples, and this week brought a very special learning opportunity!

Students enjoyed a virtual visit with Avroy Toolie, a member of the Siberian Yupik Alaska Native community from the Village of Savoonga, Alaska. Avroy shared insights into her culture and traditions while answering students' thoughtful questions.

Adding to the experience, Mrs. Dizick, who spent two years teaching in Savoonga, shared her firsthand knowledge and cultural artifacts she collected during her time there.

What a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about different cultures, ask questions, and gain a deeper appreciation for the traditions and experiences of others!

One word, endless possibilities! Students in Jackie Prosise’s class recently read the book One Word and were encouraged to choose one word to inspire and guide them throughout the school year!

From setting goals to building confidence and embracing kindness, each student selected a word that holds special meaning to them. What a fun and meaningful way to encourage personal growth and start the year with purpose!

Small hands, big hearts! Third graders at Eagle Rock Elementary have been busy creating heartfelt cards to welcome home veterans this weekend! Each card is a small gesture of gratitude, filled with kindness and appreciation for those who have served our country.

We're so proud of our ERE students for showing that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. What a wonderful way to honor our veterans and remind them how much they are appreciated!

Welcome home, and thank you for your service!
