Atlas Riding School Offering beginner, intermediate, and independent lessons for all riders.

The horse world belongs to strong women, and there’s room for everyone in the saddle.

Women have shaped this sport, built its traditions, and continue to lead with grit, grace, and determination. At Atlas Riding School, we celebrate that strength while welcoming riders of every gender, identity, background, and experience level.

Because horses don’t care who you are, where you come from, or how you identify. They care about how you show up. And we believe the barn is a better place when everyone has a place in it.

There has been so much quiet work happening behind the scenes at our little barn, and it feels good to finally share what we've been up to! This season has brought thoughtful updates, new offerings, and a clearer sense of who we are and how we want this place to feel.

Our website now reflects the real heart of Atlas, with photos of our own horses and clearer descriptions of the way we teach. Check it out!

We’ve also returned to Appointy for scheduling and added a small five dollar increase to help us stay steady and sustainable for the long run.

We’re opening the barn for new experiences too with our very first retreat on October 18th, and we've set the dates for some winter kid camps.

Thank you for growing with us. This barn feels brighter because of you all!

Atlas is being discharged tomorrow afternoon! We are so incredibly grateful for your love and support during this scary and emotional time for Atlas, his mom Jen, and everyone who loves him. He clearly has quite the fan club, and he seems to know it. His left eye continues to heal slowly, so he has to continue wearing the fancy mask for a little while longer. This amazing community has donated a little over $3,000 to help Atlas recover and soften the impact of a 2-week hospitalization. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing Atlas’s GoFundMe with family, friends, and others who may want to help. Link in bio. ❤️

We are so incredibly thankful for the love and support being shown for Atlas and his mom/owner, Jen. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the GoFundMe, or reached out with kind words and encouragement.

For those who have been asking, Atlas developed colic Friday night and the local vet discovered he had a very serious impaction. According to OSU, the blockage was severe enough to push his intestine and colon to the side.

After several long days of treatment, he was finally able to enjoy a little hay on Tuesday, which felt like such a hopeful step. He still isn’t stable enough to come home yet, but we’re thankful for every bit of progress.

Atlas is also receiving care for an eye injury. Because he was still somewhat sedated during the trip to OSU, it seems he may have bumped his head or face in the trailer. His eye was treated right away at OSU, but it became very swollen on Tuesday and needs some additional care.

The fundraising goal has been raised to $4,000 to help with Atlas’s continued treatment and recovery while he remains at OSU.

Please keep Atlas and Jen in your thoughts, and if you’re able, continue sharing the GoFundMe link with family, friends, and your community.

Like many draft horses, Atlas is a gentle giant who quickly befriends riders of all sizes—young and old—with his patience and kind demeanor. He is an 18-year-old drum horse and the namesake of Atlas Riding School in Estacada, Oregon. Over the years, Atlas has helped riders of all ages and abilities enjoy the world of horseback riding. Charming looks and a calm presence make him a favorite among barn interns and volunteers, riding students, and visitors alike.

On the night of May 29, 2026, Atlas became seriously ill (colic) and had to be driven almost two hours to Oregon State University veterinary school for emergency treatment. Thanks to the quick action of Jen, neighbors, the local vet, and the dedicated team at OSU, Atlas is showing signs of improvement. However, this big guy may need a few more days of treatment before he can return home, and the costs for his care are adding up quickly.

Funds raised will help cover the cost of vet bills with OSU and any follow-up care that may be needed once Atlas gets home. He has given so much to our community, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Please consider donating to help offset the cost of Atlas’s vet bills and support his recovery. Let’s show our appreciation to Atlas by helping him in this time of need. LINK IN BIO: https://gofund.me/45c215dec
