Introduction to IEW class and/or students in grades 4-8 who are new writing. This book will help students practice the skills learned in the Introduction to IEW class and provide higher reading-level sources. Assignments are one to three paragraphs most weeks. Students will again work with all six dress-ups and learn the #2 sentence opener, working through the first seven units. Students will work to perfect these style techniques as well as work on lengthier assignments. The source texts are more robust, and some outside research may be necessary. Parents will be expected to assist their student with the writing process by helping them edit the rough draft into a final draft."

"Writing - the act of recording, organizing, and communicating one’s thoughts and ideas on paper. This class is for students new to writing. Students must be able to read and handwrite on their own. Most assignments are one paragraph per week. Ideal students will be in grades 3-5. Students will learn all six of the dress-ups and the first seven IEW units. Parents will be expected to assist their student with the writing process from key word outline to final draft."
