We hit the ground running this week, HUUSD! 🏃‍♂️💨 In just 3 days, we have already served THOUSANDS of meals! 🤯

We are so incredibly excited to see such a huge increase in participation. If you have not grabbed a meal with us yet, we really want you to join us for breakfast and lunch next week! 🍽️

Our team is absolutely crushing it in the kitchen. We are talking house made local pesto, mountains of fresh fruits and veggies like local lettuce, and amazing ingredients from Vermont producers like local cheese, bread, and pizza dough! Plus, whole milk is back! 🥛🍕🥗

It has been so amazing seeing our students' smiling faces again and serving them delicious meals this week! 🍎 Before we start flooding your feed with our daily food pictures, we want to take a moment to acknowledge all the behind the scenes training our Food & Nutrition staff completed this summer to get ready for the year. 👏
🔹On August 17th, our Director Erika Dolan and Managers Yuko Cormier, Eli Fortney, and Cheryl Joslin attended the School Nutrition Association of Vermont Annual Conference at beautiful Shelburne Farms. They engaged with state leaders, attended multiple workshops, learned about USDA programs, and had the privilege of hearing an update from U.S. Senator Peter Welch. A special highlight was Director Erika participating in a panel led by Rosie Krueger from the AOE, where she was able to share all the wonderful things we do right here at Harwood! ✨
🔹Then, on August 24th, our entire team gathered for a targeted training with the wonderful Kathy Alexander. We navigated USDA regulations, brainstormed how to overcome challenges, and focused on growing stronger together as a team, all so we can best serve our HUUSD students! 🥗💪

Welcome back, HUUSD families! 👋 We have missed seeing all of your faces in the cafeteria! 🍎

We are so excited to serve you delicious meals this year. Here’s a quick reminder of what to expect:

*School breakfast and lunch are completely FREE for all students, thanks to Vermont's universal meals program!

*Our funding depends on your participation, so eating with us helps the whole district and sustains the program for everyone!

*We emphasize fresh, nourishing meals and love serving local foods from VT farms and producers, like beef, bread, cheddar cheese, and maple syrup!

A delicious lunch was served across HUUSD today! 🍗

BBQ roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans, corn on the cob, fresh salad, fruit, milk, and a roll on the side. A colorful, hearty, and comforting meal that our students absolutely loved! 💛🖤

May the 4th be with you! ⭐
The force was strong in our kitchens today! After two long years, this fan favorite day finally landed on a school day again, and the excitement was real.

Even Darth Vader stopped by to help serve lunch!

Thank you to all the families and staff who took the time to complete our recent Food & Nutrition Survey. We received wonderful feedback and truly appreciate your input as we continue to grow and improve our program.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible celebration of School Lunch Hero Day on Friday, May 1. Our staff felt genuinely appreciated, and we are so grateful for the kindness and support shown throughout the district. It meant a great deal to our team.
Our May menu is full of delicious and nourishing options. We encourage you to take a look! We are proud of the work we do each day and remain committed to providing healthy, high quality meals for all of our students.
