How much of their attention goes into rendering the world that enters their senses, how much of their attention stays with their own subjectivity? The class will be organized around three classics of Hindi travel literature: Phanishwarnath Renu, Rinjal Dhanjal; Mohan Rakesh, Aakhiri Chattan Tak; Rahul Sankrityayan, Meri Tibbat Yatra. There will also be weekly viewing of documentary and fiction films that focus on travel, such as Awtar Kaulโs 27 Down and Mrinal Senโs Bhuvan Shome.
