Attention high school seniors planning to major in agriculture!
Applications are now open for the 2023 Gerald M. Geiger Scholarship, the NEW Gary Griswold Ag Business Scholarship, and the 2023 Butte Young Farmers & Ranchers Scholarship!
All information can be found on the BCFB website www.buttefarmbureau.com/programs/scholarship or give us a call at 530-533-1473 with any questions. Applications are due by 4pm on March 31st.

What a great way to kick off the LDE season! ๐ We took 13 students to compete in the Palermo Middle Buckle Bonanza yesterday and our very own Emma Schneider took home 1st place for impromptu speaking!๐ฅ All of our students did great and weโre looking forward to the the rest of the spring LDE season ๐๐

The last couple days of our trip were eventful!๐ We watched Matt and Lexi Vanella receive their well earned American Degrees. We also attended the last session where the new 2022โ2023 National FFA Officer Team was introduced. We finished the trip with an amazing tour of Fair Oaks Farms.๐ฅ๐. Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible. It was one we will never forget.๐ฆ

Day 3 was a blast! ๐ We attended sessions, ventured through the expo and went to workshops to collaborate on new ideas for social media and learn more about ourselves ๐ก We are pumped for day 4 and whatโs to come! ๐

The second day of the 95th National FFA Convention was amazing ๐คฉ We started off touring the National FFA Center. We then had the chance to explore the Expo Hall where students explored various colleges and companies. ๐ We attended the 2nd Session and learned all about how to make a positive impact on those around us. We finished the day at the Mikey Guyton and Russel Dickerson concert, onward to day 3! ๐

We made it to Indianapolis and spent our first day touring Churchill Downs ๐and Louisville Slugger โพ๏ธ. We also went to the 95th National FFA Convention Opening Session. Such a great day to kick off our week! ๐๐

Come join us for our October meeting! It is this Wednesday 10/19 at 6:30pm in the Ag shop. The best Halloween costume will win a prize.

Way to kickoff the CDE Season! Today we had 6 teams compete at Shasta College Field Day: BIG, Farm Power, Welding, Livestock Judging, Floriculture and Vet Science. In the Farm Power contest, Sean Gallagher placed 3rd overall individual and the team placed 3rd overall. In Welding contest Tanner Martinez placed 2nd overall individual. Way to go durham!

Friday we had a wonderful visit from the California FFA State Officers. Thank you Mel, Hunter and Abby for sharing your knowledge with us! ๐๐

We are finally back in school! To celebrate, we are hosting a meeting and BBQ for all ag students and their parents/guardians. Meeting will start at 5:30 followed by dinner and educational posters created by our officers.

Please come help with the Ag Clean Up Day this Wednesday and Thursday. It will count as Ag points for the fall semester!

Durham FFA had a special day yesterday. We had 12 members who received their State FFA Degrees. Avery placed 2nd in our section for project competition with his placement SAE at Merlo Farming Group. We also had the opportunity to watch 2 of our members, Kelsey and Hunter host their last event as Regional Officers. Congratulations everyone!๐

YQCA Prepare2Respond encourages participants to take all three modules. Doing so will provide a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of emergency response planning for a livestock event.

This weekend our Parli Pro, BIG, Creed and Livestock teams represented us extremely well at the UC Davis Field Day. Emma Schneider placed 1st overall for the FFA Creed competition and our BIG team was 5th overall. Way to go Durham!

Durham had 7 students complete at the regional FFA speaking competition last Friday and they did an amazing job!
Hunter Haslem placed 5th in Extemp.
Emma Schneider placed 2nd in Creed which qualified her for the state finals!
Our Parli Pro team place 4th overall also qualify for the state finals!
We are very excited to cheer them on in a few weeks. Keep up the good work!

Durham FFA is hosting our annual Boots and Bowties dinner on February 24th. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and a great chance to catch up with friends and enjoy a lovely dinner. Durham FFA has been working extremely hard this year to attend and competitively compete in various CDE and LDE competitions. We could not do that without the support from our amazing community.
