Meet the Team: Maggie West! 🌟

Maggie is the Workforce Support Program Manager for Durham PreK. For the past three years on our team, she has loved supporting teachers (and aspiring teachers) to get a FREE college degree. So many teachers jump straight into the workforce by necessity and may not have previously had the opportunity to go to college or complete a degree, and felt like the opportunity was closed to them for many systemic reasons. She enjoys working alongside teachers to achieve their own personal educational goals - just as they are supporting the education of the children in their care. It's so lovely to see their pride in their own accomplishments.

Outside of work, she is mostly trying to keep up with her 2 young children😆, riding the roller coaster of parenting (with all the highs and lows!)🎢. She enjoys hikes, creeks, paddling🛶, neighborhood cookouts, hosting gatherings, and unprogrammed down-time with kids and friends. A fun fact about Maggie is, she helps create, write, and perform musical theater pieces about current social justice issues in our community!

Meet the Team: Kamika Leigh🌟

Introducing, Kamika! For 7 years, Kamika has served as our Lead Durham PreK Birth-Kindergarten Quality Enhancement Coach. She enjoys having the opportunity to support teachers in their professional growth and help ensure young children have access to high-quality early learning experiences. She finds it rewarding to build relationships with educators, provide coaching and professional development, and see the positive impact on both teachers and children.

In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, attend comedy shows😆, and host family gatherings. Fun fact about Kamika: she owns an event planning and decorating business!👏

Adrienne serves as our Communications and Public Engagement Coordinator for Durham PreK! For almost three years, she has enjoyed creating engaging content and growing brand awareness to help families learn more about our program. She also enjoys working with the DPK team!

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going to concerts or listening to live music.🎶 A fun fact about her is she enjoys riding mechanical bulls!🐂
