NABJ-Raleigh Durham was pleased to hear some of the great efforts underway right now to support HBCUs during April's General Body Meeting. A special thank you to our speaker Dr. Shandra Jones with Self-Help Credit Union. She highlighted the important work she does with the HBCU Promise+ Center of Excellence. The center's holistic approach showed a deep level of care, commitment, and investment to HBCUs as well as the communities that surround them.
We also heard a recap of the NABJ Region III conference held in Montgomery, Alabama which included a talk from Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative and a visit to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.

β¨ Congratulations to our very own Gayle Hurd on her recent win at the RTDNAC Association Awards! Gayle, a News Anchor and Entertainment Reporter for WRAL-TV and WPTF-AM, and her team won second place in the Radio News Block category for βThe WPTF Evening News with Gayle Hurd.β
The team was also awarded first place in the Outstanding News Organization category for FM 92.9, AM 680 WPTF, and first place in the Political Election category for βElection Night, 2024, NCN News.β
