Durham School of the Arts first opened in 1995 and is housed in the former Durham High School building, which opened in 1922 and closed as a traditional high school in 1993. Approximately 1,655 students from all parts of Durham County are enrolled in grades 6 thru 12. The 45-voice Duke Chorale, directed by Allan Friedman, presents holiday music from around the world in Duke University Chapel on themes of life, peace, and light. The Chorale will be joined by choirs from the Durham School of the Arts, conducted by Jeremy Nabors. There will be carols for all to sing, stories, and a special guest for children.
Admission: one non-perishable food item for Urban Ministries of Durham or one new or lightly used children's book for Book Harvest.

DSA is pleased to share that we recently earned Platinum status on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll! To achieve this recognition, schools must meet or exceed the criteria for a given recognition level for all three metrics. The criteria for Platinum schools are:
College Culture: Enable 80%+ of the Class of 2023 to experience one AP course before graduating.
College Credit: Assist with college affordability by enabling 50%+ of the Class of 2023 to earn college credit by earning an AP Exam score of 3.
College Optimization: Create opportunities for 15%+ of the Class of 2023 to take a total of 5 AP courses across their high school years, with at least one taken in 9th or 10th grade.
