Durham School of the Arts is proud to be recognized with Platinum status on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, the highest distinction awarded by the College Board. This honor reflects the hard work of our students who challenge themselves with college-level learning and put in the effort to succeed in rigorous AP coursework.

Only about 4% of all high schools in North Carolina earned Platinum status, which places DSA among the top AP programs in the state. This recognition highlights our students' commitment to growth, their willingness to take on academic challenges, and their excitement for discovering new pathways through advanced study.

We are proud of our students, grateful to our teachers, and inspired by the supportive community that makes achievements like this possible!

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟏𝟐/𝟓/𝟐𝟓

On a remote learning day, students are expected to log into Canvas for instructions from their teacher and to register their attendance. Teachers will have office hours until 10:30 am to answer any questions. Students will find three things in their Canvas Classrooms:

1) Directions on what can be done during the day from their teacher,
2) An attendance form to fill out, and
3) The teacher’s zoom link for office hours.

All work will be completed asynchronously.

All students should log in to take attendance before 11:00 am.

𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐬?

Durham Public Schools is hosting live webinars to walk families through creating a Rooms account, setting language preferences, managing notifications, and exploring key features. Sessions are offered in English and Spanish on Thursday, October 2 at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 23 at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. These webinars are a great opportunity to get hands-on support and have your questions answered.

Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, DSA is transitioning to a new student information system, NCSIS powered by Infinite Campus. This system has replaced PowerSchool. Please create your account as soon as possible, as critical information will be shared through the portal.

Using the Parent Portal Access Website at https://portalaccess.ncsis.gov.

• Step 1: Select Durham Public Schools.
• Step 2: Enter your student’s ID number, first name, last name, and date of birth.
• Step 3: Select the parent/guardian setting up the account.
• Step 4: Choose a verification method (text or email—must match what is on file at the school).
• Step 5: Enter the 6-digit verification code to complete setup.

Cheryl Bowden has retired from Coaching after serving our Student Athletes and community for 25 years on both the MS and HS level.
