I love how there's a podcast for everyone: ancient civilizations for my history buffs, lessons on skin for my science fans, and riddles and trickster stories for my avid readers. Even if we are learning about something that isn’t a favorite subject for some of my students, all of them end up being engaged due to the way the program is designed. - Laurel Mattern, Teacher, Blazier Elementary School https://ow.ly/HiBe50QZMaR

⭐Episode Spotlight⭐

Celebrate with The Walking Classroom! Episode #50 is all about Joan of Arc, a national heroine of France.

Despite having no military experience, Joan of Arc played a significant role during the Hundred Years’ War. Dressed in white armor and on a white horse, she led a French army to victory over the English at Orleans. Joan of Arc’s perseverance made her an exceptional soldier and hero. This Walking Classroom episode encourages students to reflect on how learning to overcome challenges helps us grow.

TWC is an Eye-Opener! — I teach fourth grade students in an urban community just outside of Washington, DC. The students have been designated Gifted and Talented by way of assessment data, teacher recommendations, and parent surveys. However, our program is under-funded. The Walking Classroom has been an eye opener into how my students think and feel about the topics provided. It is a wonderful resource, allowing my diverse classroom, which is mostly boys, to walk outside and get fresh air in nature during instructional time.

For many of my students, recess and The Walking Classroom are their only opportunities to get outside while also getting in some healthy exercise time. The additional resources keep the students engaged. My students complete activities after they walk and listen to the podcasts. What is really rewarding is when students refer to a podcast in real life situations as a resource.

My students and I are so grateful for the Walking Classroom!
