The Student Exchange House

Our rooms are filling up for the Spring term 2023. If you are interested in living in a fully furnished house with other graduate students from around the world, check out which rooms are still open at https://thestudentexchangehouse.com.

We cater especially to international students, faculty, and researchers who need short-term accommodation. The price of each room includes all utilities (including wi-fi). Prices vary by which room and which house, ranging from $660 to $840 per month.

We are starting to get applications for January 2023. We are not surprised, since the housing market in Durham is tight. That's one reason we continue to offer our "visa guarantee": If you book a room at The Student Exchange House before you get your visa, and you cannot travel to the US because your visa is not approved in time, we will refund your security deposit. You will have lost only the $35 application fee. It's just one of the ways we try to make coming to Durham hassle free for international students!

Is Covid-19 turning your life upside down? It has certainly affected us. We have several renters who planned to leave Durham in May who have extended their stays with us because of an inability to travel home to countries under lockdown.

But we are still accepting applications for folks who are coming to Durham this summer or in the fall. Our website always has our latest openings listed.

We've recently repainted and replaced the floor in the living room of The Student Exchange House at 3204 Sprunt Avenue. Looks lovely! WE are beginning to welcome in students for the 2018 Fall term at Duke, but we still have 3 rooms open for the second half of the term, and plenty available for January 2019. The Student Exchange House at Duke Duke Off Campus Housing at One All-Inclusive Rate

We are almost full for the summer, but if there is anyone out there planning a short rotation or internship at Duke from Mid-may to end of June, we could fit you in at our house at 3115 Sprunt Avenue.

We are full up for the Spring Semester, but already receiving applications for the summer!

Last year we enjoyed having students at the American Dance Festival, interns in the Dept. of Psychology, a Duke/UNC Rotary Peace Fellow and others creating their own temporary "families" at the Student Exchange House.

Who will it be this summer?

Planning to come to Duke in 2018? We still have a few rooms open for January 2018.

Our aim is to make it easy for international graduate students or visiting faculty to arrive in Durham and get to work. The houses are fully furnished -- you don't even have to bring a pillow. All of our houses are within biking distance to Duke, and two of them are on the LaSalle Loop busline. Very convenient.
