Every child is very special to UNC-TV and we have some special things “just for kids.”
First of all, meet Read-a-roo! Read-a-roo is a very special kangaroo friend of UNC-TV who promotes reading and learning to children all over our state. Read-a-roo has a special monthly Block party, along with her own game, mobile app, and DVD. She loves visiting schools and even invites our youngest viewers to come to UNC-TV for a station tour. Read-a-roo has lots of PBS KIDS pals who often visit NC. Also, we offer a place where you can come to get great information about our special community events, get information about contests such as the PBS KIDS GO! Writers, access PBS online resources, create healthy recipes, and get UNC-TV’s program schedule! Just for Teachers! UNC-TV dedicates more than a third of our programming day to preparing students for the classroom. And now there is a place where you can come to tap into all the information we have to share. So be sure to log in regularly for lesson plans, activities and other fun stuff from your statewide PBS network. Find teaching resources and program information such as episodes and educational learning goals that are linked to local and national standards. Resources include: online professional development with TeacherLine; teacher workshops from A-Z; Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) resources; UNC-TV’s LearningMedia; PBS Raising Readers initiative; Family engagement; Let’s Go Shopping with Read-a-roo lesson plan; health resources; School readiness with Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures; summer camps; cross-age reading programs, grant projects, partnerships and so much more!
