Join Us in Supporting Water Safety Education for Local Students!
Swim for Charlie (SFC) is a nonprofit partnering with schools and community pools to provide essential water‑safety instruction to 2nd grade students. Since 2020, the program has served more than 4,000 children across North Carolina.
Parkwood Swim Club has opened its pool this September so SFC can extend the program to Parkwood Elementary School. The program is currently recruiting volunteers to assist during lesson sessions September 8–18, 9:30am–12:30pm. Volunteers help with simple, structured activities that ensure every child feels supported and safe in the water. Training is provided, and no prior swim‑instruction experience is required.
To learn more or register as a volunteer, please visit swimforcharlie.org/volunteer or reach out to Isabel Callaway ([email protected]).

Helping spread the word!
Everyone Eats. Durham, a collaboration of 15 hunger relief organizations including the Parktown Food Hub, is planning a week in September to raise awareness about hunger in Durham and raise funds for these 15 food pantries. If your family, club, student group, sorority or fraternity, faith organization, workplace, or neighborhood is interested in organizing fundraising events or food drives, please see the flier attached. In the coming months, there will be toolkits for different organizations on the Everyone Eats. Durham webpage at bit.ly/4njB3Oq. Let us know if you have questions or plan to get involved! ‼️
